Mayor Bral and the Board of Trustees acted on December 26, 2017 in response to Governor Cuomo's Executive Order which authorized municipalities to accelerate the process of collecting taxes for such municipalities that had a budget adopted, a levy was passed and warrant was issued to collect the levy by December 31, 2017. 

After consulting many experts on the issue, including the New York Conference of Mayors, the New York State Comptroller’s Office, and the Village’s attorneys and auditors, we have concluded that the Village did not have the authority to collect the levy without an adopted budget. All payments that were received will be returned via mail in accordance with the terms of the application you signed at the time of payment.
